Should we switch to Office 365?
Not sure if Office 365 will meet your demands? Consider this… the County of Los Angeles is switching over 100,000 employees in more than 30 departments to it.
That’s a strong endorsement of not just Office 365, but hosted Exchange in general. In very rare cases does it make sense to own and maintain your own Exchange server these days. The cost of hardware, software and expertise are steep whereas a hosted solution can be had for as little as $4 a month per user.
If you have been avoiding Exchange because of the cost and complexity now would be a good time to make the move to the more robust and feature-rich Exchange platform.
Why choose Exchange
Some of the benefits of Exchange include:
- Mobile access from your Android, iPhone or Windows phone
- Centrally stored information for access from anywhere
- Shared calendars
- The Outlook Web App for web browser access to your mail, contacts, etc
- Email archiving and litigation hold
- Email compliance (HIPAA, SOX, CJIS, etc)
- Better SPAM filtering options
- Better support
We have been implementing hosted Exchange since 2007 for customers from sole proprietors ot organizations of over 100 and it has worked out well for everyone involved. And now the LA County has shown that it makes sense for even a 100,000 user community.
